Panama 1980 5 Balboa, Rare Specimen Strike, Very Few Released. Mintage 1,000, Low Mintage, Krause list 1,000 coins struck in Specimen. Usually the specimen coins are released in Panama and the Proofs Sold to US and World Collectors. They strike the minimum required business strike coins to make the Proofs Legal Tender, so normally they will distribute the business strike in Panama and only a few would be released to collectors or for general use. I would estimate maybe only a few hundred coins released so they are very scarce if you find them. A very nice addition to your collection.
